Pendulum, Tremble, Free Fall

“Pendulum, Tremble, Free Fall” is a sonic installation that uses sounding materials suspended from a ceiling which are independently moving to generate an acoustic sound orchestra.

 
 

HRTF Mixing

Discovered from experimentation with binaural recording that if the microphones move closer to a sound generator (a speaker), it will create a change in volume of the sound within the headphones. Moreover if walking across and moving between a pair of loud speakers it can create a sense of panning also within the headphones. This is “manual mixing”.

paper floaty cube

"Paper Floaty Cube" is a new sonic environment where people can experience a unique auditory illusion as well as the properties of specific sounds in space.

The cube is made out of paper and hung from the ceiling as if it is floating in the air. You are invited to enter the cube, stepping into its manufactured sonic environment. Upon entering you will experience the full effect of sound localisation and physical vibrations which make up the sonic composition of the work. A speaker on each of the paper surfaces of the cube generates interesting sound vibrations by enhancing the sonic properties of the paper structure. A visual representation of the sounds is also presented through a number of LED lights which change with the volume of the sounds, more particularly, in order to project an aesthetic shadow of an audience against the paper surface which acts as a projector screen.

 
 

Orpiano

This music box toy piano is a piece of sonic art desired for every complete modern home. The invention presented here relates to a toy piano, more particularly, eleven solenoids are uncovered like a bunch of patch bays of an analogue synth; music will be automatically played and the keys are also a movement depressed to stimulate the actual playing of the piano.
